First, take a look do you need Pro or BIM package!
Power Path currently comes in two different packages: Power Path Pro and Power Path BIM, for a quick overview, look at this comparison to see the difference between these two packages:
As you can see, the main difference between Pro and BIM packages is in functionalities for 3D BIM modeling and exchanging digital records (different file formats) with other software solutions.
With a package Pro, users can create 2D and 3D designs of power lines or any other technical drawings and models, but with a package BIM users get advanced functionalities for workflows that support Building Information Modeling methodology.
If we go under the hood and compare Pro and BIM packages:
– Power Path Pro contains commands for:
Power line design:
2D Drafting:
3D Modeling:
– Power Path BIM contains commands for:
Power line design:
2D Drafting:
3D Modeling:
+ additional commands for Building Information Modeling (where are also functionalities for importing and exporting .ifc and native files from other software solutions like are SketchUp©, MicroStation©, Autodesk Revit©, Rhino©)
Second, define do you need a single (SL) or network (NL) licence!
The single license (SL) can be installed only on one single computer and can be used by only one user at a time. And if you need to use a solution on more than one computer, you need more single licenses.
Activation for a single license is possible online if the computer is connected to the internet or offline if the computer is not connected to the internet.
Network license (NL) can be used by any user inside the company’s local network that has software installed on his/her computer but by a limited number of users at a time. And if you need a solution for more users, you need more network licenses.
Activation and using a network license is possible through the server. The computer, on which the server is placed (set), can also work as a client/user.
Both of the licenses (SL and NL) have some technical advantages, user chooses what is better for him.
Third, choose do you want a 1-year or 3-years subscription plan!
Previously is shown the difference in the technical side of the solution (Power Path Pro & Power Path BIM comparison; single license & network license comparison), but we also want to mention that user has an option for choosing the period of using a solution. Power Path is available through the subscription plan for 1 year and 3 years.
In the end, a user’s choice is in selecting a combination of which package, type of license, and subscription plan will fit his needs.
